Parish seeks to broaden its ministerial scope
HIGHLAND PARK, NEW JERSEY - St. Paul’s will hold a Ministry Expo on Sunday, April 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parish parking lot, 23 South Fifth Avenue in Highland Park. (In the event of inclement weather, the Ministry Expo will be held in the Parish Hall.)
The entire community – Catholic and non-Catholic, practicing and non-practicing – is invited to attend. They will have an opportunity to speak with representatives from all 13 parish ministries – everyone from ushers and altar servers to Chant Club members and Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist.
“Our ministries provide parishioners with a wonderful opportunity to express their faith by serving the entire parish community,” said the Rev. Robert V. Meyers, Pastor of St. Paul’s. “We hope that all who attend the Expo will find the ministry that best suits their skills and interests.”
Founded in 1913, the Catholic community of St. Paul the Apostle has nearly 1,000 members who live in Highland Park, Edison and Piscataway. St. Paul’s is one of the area’s largest and most diverse faith communities.
St. Paul’s parishioners actively serve the needs of people throughout the community. Activities include serving as a primary donor to the Highland Park Food Pantry and offering comfort and spiritual care to residents of the Parker Nursing Home.
Approximately 100 St. Paul’s parishioners already serve in one or more ministries.
Members of the Parish Pastoral Council are organizing the Ministry Expo.
