Sixth Annual Autumn in the Park Festival
MAIN STREET HIGHLAND PARK will hold its sixth annual Autumn in the Park festival from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday along Raritan Avenue, between Adelaide and Sixth avenues.
The event will include performances by 11 musical groups and a Bulgarian dance troupe. A clown will make animal balloons and there will be free hayrides and horse-and-buggy rides.
Raritan Avenue businesses will run promotions, free giveaways and discounts.
St. Paul's Parish, 502 Raritan Ave.: Paint pumpkins and make seasonal crafts in the parish's parking lot.
Curves, 75 Raritan Ave.: Bob for apples and pin the button on the scarecrow. Hourly door prizes will also be awarded and the $149 registration fee will be waived for new members who sign up during the festival.
Centerpiece, 312 Raritan Ave.: free wine, cider, and cheese
Unity Bank, 104 Raritan Ave.: free refreshments
Through the Moongate, 425 Raritan Ave.: Free gifts will be given out and a guest speaker will lead a discussion on fair trade.
Over the Moon Toys, 427 Raritan Ave.: Yellow Brick Road Preschool and Infant and Toddler Center will have a fall crafts table in front with t-shirt painting and hair painting with members of the Girl Scouts.
Robert's Florals, 114 Raritan Ave.: Children will be invited to paint pumpkins.
Pino's Fruit Basket Shoppe and Wine Cellars, 13 North Fourth Ave.: Free wine tasting; selected bottles of wine will be on sale for $5.
Carvel, 223 Raritan Ave.: All items will be 10 percent off.
A Garden Party boutique and salon, 60A Raritan Ave.: All boutique merchandise will be 20 percent off and free kosher candy will be available.
Dr. Howard A. Sherman's office, 202 Raritan Ave.: Selected single-vision glasses, complete with frames and lenses, will be on sale for $72.
By visiting different downtown stores, participants can become eligible to enter a drawing to win gifts and prizes donated by local businesses.
