Residents in Highland Park, led by Borough Council President Elsie Foster Dublin, are planning the third annual “It Takes a Village” holiday lunch and are seeking food and gift donations.
The lunch, which is open to everyone, is from noon to 2 p.m., Dec. 25 at the Highland Park Senior Youth Center, 220 S. 5th Ave.
Guests should RSVP by Dec. 23 to Kim at (732) 819-0052.
Anyone wishing to donate or volunteer should also contact Kim.
The idea for the lunch came after Foster Dublin found out that some of the borough’s senior citizens would be alone for the holidays because their children weren’t coming home.
“This is a sad and lonely time in their lives,” Foster Dublin said of some of the senior citizens.
“They have no place to go and no one to spend the day with. I wanted to do something for those who don’t have any family.”
Organizers are still collecting food and gifts. |
