New Year on Main Street!

Nighthawk Books Grand Opening!

A New Year and a new decade has begun in Highland Park, and Main Street Highland Park is ready to continue building on the successes of last year. Main Street Highland Park is well on its way to strengthening its mission and focusing on its goals with a new executive board in place.

The new executive board members include Walter Deutsch II, president, Dr. Ethan Glickman and Steve Hambro, vice presidents; and Marlon Pando and William “Tripp” Salisbury, members.

Deutsch, who has worked in Highland Park for 27 years and is vice president and market leader for Unity Bank, said his focus is three-fold – making sure the ...MORE

Nighthawk Books opened this past week, during the snowstorm. They will have their Grand Opening this Saturday, February 20, beginning at noon, with a ribbon-cutting slated for 12:30p.m., the first such Opening for newly-appointed Highland Park Mayor, Steve Nolan.

Authors, poets and musicians will appear throughout the day. “We're also inviting people to come in and recite their favorite opening line from any work of literature, and receive a token of our esteem,” said owner, Steven Hart

Hart says Nighthawk Books at 212 Raritan Ave. will be more than your average start-up bookstore. DVDs will be... MORE

Win the Window!
On Main Street

Lotus Studios, directly above White Lotus Home at 431 Raritan Avenue is the place to be next weekend. The Studio will host TWO EVENTS on Saturday, Feb. 27.

First, get your day going with the right kind of start! Inspire Me Fit's Health & Wellness Open House goes from 9:00am to Noon(get the FLIER)

And beginning at 8:00pm, Lotus Studios hosts the Jazz-Art Buffet, with John Bianculli Group and featuring vocalist Jackie Jones (FLIER).

Inspire Me Fit isn’t like your ordinary gym. There are no huge weight-lifting machines, rows of dumbbells or treadmills. And the workout space doubles as an art gallery (which will host the Jazz Art Buffet later Saturday night 2/27).
Beginning with the concept and space, owner Metra Lundy knew Inspire Me Fit was going to be a different approach to exercise.
“With all of the art on the wall, the space is very comfortable. It’s different from a typical gym. The staff knows the clients by name. And what’s great about a small studio is that you’re not going to work out alone and just go home,” said Lundy....MORE

Win the Window is back for another year in this winner-take-all extravaganza! One lucky winner will walk away with EVERYTHING in the window (excluding the display fixtures)

As we did last year here in downtown Highland Park, participating downtown businesses will supply a gift from their store, which will be displayed in a downtown window. One winner will be selected, and she or he will win everything in the window.

The contest begins March 15, so keep your eyes open (or watch your in-box) for details on which window will display all the gifts, and who is participating.

Last year, James McCrone and Michael Kornfeld of Salit Auto delivered the gifts to the winner. "It was a good thing Michael brought an SUV," said James. "It was packed full!"

Participants may enter to win more than once, but may enter ONLY once per participating store.

"We're excited to bring it back. People had a lot of fun with it," said Jenni Chapman who is owner of Over the Moon Toys and Through the Moongate gifts, and Main Street Promotions Committee chair.
