Four new stores opened their doors here in the last few months

While stores are going out of business all around us, Highland Park seems to be immune to the economic downfall. In the last five months, four new businesses have opened here, with two moving in last month.

“Highland Park is a strong retail mix of good, energetic entrepreneurs,” said James McCrone, director of Main Street Highland Park. “We have a loyal customer base that shops local. It’s not just a slogan – if you commit to Highland Park, Highland Park commits to you.”

Allstellar home furnishings at 212 Raritan Ave. is the most recent business to plant roots in Highland Park. Owner Jason Wang sells traditional and contemporary pieces, got a good vibe from the community when he lived here six years ago.  “I liked it and I still have a lot of friends..".more

Make a Difference with Main Street: Volunteer & Get Involved in '09

We have some new events planned for this year, including a 5K Race to take place the morning of Street Fair (May 17). In addtion to our regular fun fare lineup.
There is Planting Day (May 16), the Arts Fest (celebrating its 5th year in '09!), Random Acts of Fun, Autumn in the Park and more.

There are great opporntunities for getting involved and making a difference here in Highland Park. Main Street Highland Park interacts with residents, merchants, property owners, the media, arts organizations, other non-profits and borough officials. We need your skills in writing, editing, managing; we need your passion for making Highland Park a better place. Volunteers are our lifeblood. Main Street can always use a hand, either at the project level or on its committees.
