The holidays came alive for about 200 borough residents who attended the Christmas dinner and party held Dec. 25 at the Senior/Youth Center, hosted by the Highland Park Department of Community Services in partnership with Main Street Highland Park businesses. Members of Highland Park Conservative Temple - Congregation Anshe Emeth served the meal. Gifts were donated by Robert's Florals, Over the Moon Toys, Centerpiece, Through the Moongate, Unity Bank, Pino's; Soma Center held its annual year-end practice on December 31st, and raised over $600 for the Community Development Center in New Brunswick.... The lifeblood of Main Street is its volunteers. Main Street can always use a hand, either at the project level or on its committees. We have some new events planned for this year, including a 5K Race to take place the morning of Street Fair (May 17). There is Planting Day (May 16), the Arts Fest (celebrating its 5th year in '09!), Random Acts of Fun, Autumn in the Park and more.
If events is not where your talents and passion lie, there are projects in Design and Economic Revitalization. Main Street projects are getting underway, and now is the perfect time to get involved!
