New Businesses on Main Street

Celebrate Night Out!

Six new businesses have recently opened, expanded or relocated along Main Street. Eden Organix, a full-service spa and organic products store; Peach Pit will open later this month at 234 Raritan, featuring women's fashion; Ofi Yofi Bakery is moving to 75 Raritan, next to Arthur Murray; Park Eye Center is moving around the corner to North 3rd Avenue; Franco's Barbershop has relocated from Woodbridge to Raritan Ave. and The Barber Lounge has recently opened in the same building as Arena and Raspberry Beret.

Police and Community Members Unite Against Crime. The Highland Park Police Dept will host its National Night Out Against Crime on August 5, an event designed to heighten crime prevention awareness and strengthen police-community relationships. The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the municipal parking lot on Raritan Avenue, between Second and Third avenues. Construction to begin this Month

Academy Supports HP Food Pantry and Night Out

Highland Park Conservative Temple-Congregation Anshe Emeth, The Highland Park Temple-Congregation Anshe Emeth is in full swing in only half of their building.  Construction to replace the synagogue damaged by a fire in August 2006 is slated to begin this month. The Temple continues and will continue to have many programs; adult education, lectures, films and classes open to the entire community. The Family Martial Arts Academy is raising money for the HP Food Pantry. “We are having a used gear sale here at the school. Every penny we raise will go towards buying food for the HP Food Pantry,” says Yvonne Levy, co-director of the academy, at 17 North 4th Avenue.
The community is urged to donate food, money or gear, as well as purchase any gear. All gear and uniforms are in good condition and are going fast. FMAA will also be giving free demonstrations at National Night Out (see above).
